Automatically compress any JXL image to 500KB or less.

500 KB is a generous target for JXL — high-resolution images and lossless encoding both comfortably fit. Ideal for archival, high-quality web, and print preview.
500 KB is generous for JXL — because JXL is the most efficient format, even high-resolution images often fit under 500 KB in lossless mode. This is useful for archival (preserve every pixel), high-quality web delivery, and print preview. JXL's efficiency means you get more quality for the same file size than any other format.

The compressor decodes the JXL and re-encodes it using libjxl. It first attempts lossless modular encoding; if the output exceeds 500 KB, it switches to lossy VarDCT and iteratively reduces quality until the target is met. At 500 KB, a JXL is typically 2000-3000px wide with quality 88-95% — often fully lossless.
500 KB is generous for JXL — most images are fully lossless at this size. For large originals, lossy mode at 88-95% quality is visually indistinguishable from the original. Great for archival and high-quality delivery.
