Convert JPEG XL (JXL) images to lossless PNG online for free. Fast, simple, and secure.
We’d Love Your Feedback! 🌟
PNG is lossless — the decoded JXL image is preserved pixel-for-pixel, but PNG files are typically 5-15x larger. Best when you plan to edit the image or need transparency preserved.
JXL is efficient but not widely supported by editing software yet. PNG is lossless, universally supported by every image editor (Photoshop, GIMP, Affinity, Figma), and preserves transparency. If you need to edit a JXL image or use it in a workflow that requires a universally accepted lossless format, PNG is the safe choice. The trade-off is file size: PNG output is typically 5-15x larger than the source JXL.

The converter decodes the JPEG XL image and writes it as an uncompressed PNG using zlib compression. The output has no additional quality loss beyond what was already in the source JXL. JXL's alpha channel (including wide gamut and HDR, if present) is reduced to 8-bit for PNG compatibility.
PNG output is lossless — every pixel of the decoded JXL image is preserved exactly. This makes PNG the correct choice for editing workflows where you plan to re-encode multiple times. JXL's HDR data (if present) is reduced to 8-bit sRGB. For HDR preservation, keep the JXL or use AVIF.
