100 KB is a good target for AVIF on the web — sharp on screens, small enough for fast loads. AVIF's efficiency means a 100 KB AVIF looks like a 150-200 KB JPG.
100 KB is the most common web upload cap, and AVIF works excellently at this size. Because AVIF is 50% smaller than JPG at the same quality, a 100 KB AVIF looks like a 150-200 KB JPG — sharp on screens with excellent compression. This is useful for CMS platforms, CDNs, and forms with 100 KB limits.

| Typical quality | 75-85% at 100 KB |

The compressor decodes the AVIF image and re-encodes it using libavif at a lower quality setting. If the output exceeds 100 KB, it reduces quality (and if necessary, dimensions) until the target is met. At 100 KB, an AVIF is typically 1000-1400px wide with quality 75-85%.
100 KB is comfortable for AVIF — sharp on screens at normal viewing sizes. Expect 1000-1400px wide with quality 75-85%. AVIF at 100 KB looks like JPG at 150-200 KB.
