Convert HEIC and HEIF images to GIF online for free. Fast, simple, and secure.

GIF is limited to 256 colors per frame — fine for graphics and simple images, but it loses color fidelity for photographs. HEIC supports millions of colors, so converting to GIF is only recommended when GIF is specifically required by the destination.
GIF is one of the oldest image formats still in use. It's supported everywhere — from pre-Internet systems to modern messaging apps. When you need to upload an image to a very old platform, embed it in an HTML signature, or post it on a forum that only accepts GIF, this is the format. Keep in mind GIF is limited to 256 colors — it works well for screenshots and graphics, but not for detailed photographs.

The converter decodes the HEVC-compressed HEIC image, quantizes the color palette to 256 colors (using Floyd-Steinberg dithering for smoother gradients), and writes a GIF. Transparency in the source HEIC is preserved as GIF's single-color transparency. EXIF metadata is not preserved in the GIF output.
GIF output is limited to 256 colors, so photographs lose color fidelity. Simple graphics, screenshots, and logos convert well. The converter uses Floyd-Steinberg dithering to smooth color gradients where possible. For photographs where color accuracy matters, use JPG, PNG, or WebP instead.
