How to compress IMAGE

  1. Upload your image (up to 50 MB).
  2. The compressor automatically targets 1 MB or under.
  3. Download the compressed image.

Quick fact about IMAGE

1 MB is a generous target for most images — high-resolution photos and hero images fit comfortably. The compressor iterates quality until the output is 1 MB or under.

Why compress IMAGE?

1 MB is the target for high-resolution images that still need to load fast. Many platforms (blogs, portfolios, marketplaces) accept images up to 1 MB. Instead of guessing quality settings, our compressor iterates until the output is 1 MB or under — one upload, done.

Technical details

Input formats JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, HEIC, GIF, BMP
Output format Same as input
Target size 1 MB or under
Iteration Quality auto-tuned until target met
PNG Lossless + proportional resize if needed
JPG/WebP/AVIF/HEIC Quality-based
Max file size 50 MB per file
File retention Auto-deleted after compression

How the conversion works

The compressor detects the image format, decodes the image, and re-encodes it at progressively lower quality until the output is 1 MB or under. Format is preserved (lossless for PNG, quality-based for JPG/WebP/AVIF/HEIC).

When to compress IMAGE

Quality considerations

1 MB is generous for most images — quality stays high even at large resolutions. For PNG (lossless), the compressor may resize proportionally if needed to reach the target.

Common problems and fixes

PNG can't reach 1 MB without resizing
PNG is lossless — very large PNGs must be resized. The tool does this automatically.
File is exactly 1 MB but looks compressed
1 MB is generous; quality should be high. If quality is poor, the source may be low-quality.
Small images already under 1 MB not changed
If the source is already under 1 MB, no compression is applied.
